Diversity and inclusion
A culture of inquiry
Ethos
We invest in a culture of inquiry, innovation, growth and development to maintain active engagement and participation in our communities and to enhance and celebrate the diversity of our studios.
Climate and Biodiversity
Tract acknowledges the twin crises of biodiversity loss and climate change.
Tract is committed to addressing the impact of our practice on climate and biodiversity and will strive to create climate and biodiversity positive outcomes through our operations and projects.
Our Climate and Biodiversity Position Statement captures this commitment and guides future action in this space.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
We deeply appreciate and consciously value the diversity, equity and inclusion of all people, which flows through to every aspect of our design practices and workplace.
Our ethos recognises that to be at our best and our strongest, we must build on our diversity, foster belonging, and support inclusion.
Doing this enables those who work with or alongside us to feel able to bring their fullest contributions.
We strongly believe we all have a role to keep contributing, progressing and owning our individuality, and making space for the uniqueness of those around us.
Internship
Each year in conjunction with the University of Melbourne, we run an intern research program, where students across our disciplines dive into a research topic relevant for a three-week intensive.
This opportunity allows students to gain broad and practical experience and make industry connections, whilst getting a taste of their future career.
Mentorship Program
The career and life experiences, as well as the guidance and technical knowledge, shared by our mentors has proved invaluable for many of our employees – some of whom have gone on to be mentors themselves.
Having the backing and knowledge of one of our more experienced or specialist team members can assist with identifying areas of development and how to address them, provide broadened networking opportunities and insight into the company, and assist in developing a greater appreciation of the industry.
National Forums
Our forums create opportunities to come together as a national practice for an intensive and shared learning experience. Sharing and developing ideas together, the outcomes focus on shaping what is important to our practice and our people, and how we can bring those values into the work we do.

Reconciliation Action Plan
We are committed to acknowledging and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through the way that we do business and with initiatives such as cultural awareness and training opportunities.
We recognise that working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is an integral part of reconciliation.
This positions us to come together and work in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, as we desire to understand and respect their different cultures, values and beliefs.
Scholarship
For many of our team members, a passion for design and shaping our environments extends far beyond the workplace. Tract offer two scholarships to support and grow these passions – Travel Scholarship and Sketches Scholarship.
