Our integrated approach combines landscape architecture, urban design, and place-based planning to create visually distinctive, sustainable, and functional environments.
Transport expertise
Our transport projects connect communities, celebrate local character, and enhance the natural and cultural landscape.
From roads, bridges and tunnels, to airports, seaports, and active transport networks, we deliver solutions that balance technical excellence with community values, ensuring every project contributes to a safer, greener and more connected future.

We assist in planning and outlining new key connections between green open spaces and cycle and pedestrian pathways. We help define the design of the cycle route and its urban design characteristics.
We develop urban design elements, including vegetation, softscape and hardscape surfaces and additional route finishing, incorporated into each section of the project.
We create place-based assessments at the intersection of science and design that will inform future planning, policy, public realm and infrastructure projects.
We enable place-appropriate responses that reflect community values and aid the delivery of the project supporting sustainable change.
Our philosophy is to extend the themes developed, creating an identifiable and memorable visual character for road users and residents through continuous design forms, while responding to the unique characteristics of the natural and cultural landscape.
Our landscape and urban design approach is to deliver an attractive, well-vegetated road corridor with planting appropriate for the function, context and visual significance of the area.
Our goal is to strengthen the relationship between bus infrastructure and its local environment to create a safe movement corridor for communities, while integrating with the existing urban context, supporting future growth and demand.
We design treatments to hard and soft urban elements such as retaining walls, noise barriers, and anticipated streetscape realignment works.
We develop strategies to guide day to day decision making, project development and evaluation to ensure all opportunities and investment are aligned to realise an airport’s vision.
We provide a clear range of actions and initiatives to support a new sense of place with memorable landscapes for people by underpinning the development of landscape assets, enhancing habitat diversity, and evolving sustainable operations.
Our principles are demonstrated by providing a practical approach to the landscape and urban design solutions balanced with the broader project objectives and value for money.
We work collaboratively with the stakeholders to deliver a landscape and urban design vision for the project with minimal impacts on the sensitive community and environmental corridors.
We formulate and realise visions to help increase tourism and stimulate the local economy. Our work ensures commercial operators, recreational boaters, anglers, the local community and visitors can enjoy a safe and accessible place that is more than a thoroughfare.
We draw attention to the surrounding seascape and views while providing features that encourage interaction and appreciation from both near and far.
We dedicate resources and staff expertise proportionate to the challenging time frames, the public status, and the dedicated budget of each project.
We capitalise on the opportunities to reconnect communities and enhance existing connections. We create community spaces and amenities at those places where the project emerges.
With a focus on appropriate integration of urban design treatments within bridge architecture, our role is to make both subtle and striking adjustments to the design of key project elements to achieve a cohesive urban transport aesthetic response.
As planners and designers we strive to carefully shape built environments for the communities they support, making places for living, leisure and work, and infrastructure that supports and connects these places.
A critical part of our role is to create a strong connection with Country to meaningfully inform our projects. Our approach reflects First Nations peoples’ knowledge, ceremonies and histories in the environments in which we live.
We promote the following principles in our projects:
- Early engagement with First Nations people in our projects utilising appropriate systems and procedures.
- Respectful development in accordance with Caring for Country principles.
- Engagement of cultural advisors to lead and coordinate meaningful community consultation.
- Commission local First Nations artists to provide genuine cultural insights to place.
Tract has extensive experience in delivering complex transport projects to cotemporary Digital Engineering/BIM requirements, providing key information to the project design and construction teams as required.
We work effectively in 3D workflows, sharing digital content at every stage to ensure the landscape solution integrates the built form into the surrounding landform.
