Portarlington Harbour hosts a variety of recreational boats and fishing activities and is surrounded by picturesque views of the bay and the coastline.

In recent years, the maritime hub has seen substantial improvements to realise the long-term vision outlined in the Portarlington Safe Harbour Plan 2009.

These efforts will create a state-of-the-art facility that is safer and more accessible for commercial operators, recreational boaters, anglers, the local community and visitors for years to come.

Parks Victoria engaged Tract to collaborate with the project engineer to design the covered walkway and landscape abutment works. This walkway enhances pedestrian safety while accessing the ferry terminal and upgraded pier infrastructure. It not only offers protection from elements like wind, rain and wave spray, but also showcases artwork created by the Traditional Owners of Wadawurrung Country.

Tract also worked to improve vehicle and pedestrian access to the pier and links to the broader foreshore. The design integrates materials salvaged from the demolished old Portarlington Pier, repurposing them for seating and interpretive signage, adding a heritage touch to the upgraded space.
