Inspired by the adjacent Victoria Square and Adelaide Central Market, the developer and design teams key goal of the Kodo Apartments roof top garden was to create a Village Green in the sky that sits above street level providing communal, dining and gathering spaces for residents whilst boasting sweeping panoramic 180 degree views to the Adelaide Hills.

The Kodo Apartments Rooftop terrace is a sound example of how apartment living doesn’t mean you have to forego quality open spaces. As with traditional public gardens, rooftops can offer people a place for social interaction as well as a place of respite above the bustling streets of the CBD.

Our open space strategy was broken up into 3 categories of execution:

Create a Village Green
By offering different spaces that offer variety of uses on the podium

Biodiversity in the City Skyline
By selecting a robust planting palette that thrives in an exposed environment and provide a community plot that encourages ownership and a sense of health and well-being.

Framing Views
With perimeter planters that form green edges with cascading plants that can be seen from street level but more importantly creating a vegetated foreground that highlights the stunning Adelaide Hills backdrop.
