The Gold Coast Light Rail (GCLR) Stage 2 project underpins a world class public transport network for residents and visitors to the Gold Coast.

Stage 2 provides the necessary linkage between the existing GCLR Stage 1 and the heavy rail system connection at Helensvale, connecting the Gold Coast to Brisbane. The Stage 2 alignment encompasses 7.3km of rail corridor as well as stations at Parkwood East, Parkwood and Helensvale connecting into the existing Stage 1 station at Gold Coast University Hospital.

The key principles of the urban design and landscape solution were to:
· Maximise accessibility
· Respect urban character
· Maintain visual amenity.
· Protect landscape values
· Design a safe public realm
· Protect the environment

These principles are demonstrated in GoldlinQ’s solution, providing a practical approach to the landscape and urban design solution balanced with the broader project objectives and value for money. GoldlinQ worked collaboratively with the D&C Contractor and stakeholders including the community, the State, City of Gold Coast, and Queensland Rail to deliver this landscape and urban design vision for the project.
