Tract was engaged by the Brisbane City Council to prepare a Master Plan for the renewal of the Howard Smith Wharves area located under the Story Bridge on the Brisbane River in Brisbane’s CBD in support of their Material Change of Use Development Application
Tract delivered a Master Plan inclusive of parkland and streetscape concepts, elevations and sketches in conjunction with revised statutory plans, diagrams and sections in response to various information requests received for previous applications for the site.
There was a strong emphasis on mitigating the pre-existing statutory and physical constraints of the site, to provide well designed public realm in Brisbane’s CBD and facilitate appropriate development outcomes that would support the public open space and heritage wharf improvements and activation.
Project Master Plan Strategies include:
- Incorporating historic buildings, bridge and dominant natural features;
- Providing a public realm that is connected into the existing urban fabric; and
- Allowing provisions for transportation, both pedestrian and vehicular.
- Remediating and providing access to the historic cliff faces
