Tract undertook the master planning, urban design and landscape architecture and of this 1600 dwelling residential suburb. The land release at Crace, represents one of the largest undertaken by the ACT Government to assist in meeting the growing demand for residential land in the ACT.
The development is a new suburb within Gungahlin region of the ACT providing a diverse range of residential and commercial developments, its own recreational spaces and community facilities.
The project includes master planning, site design and detailed design & documentation of the public domain, parks, stormwater management and private landscape areas.
The project required an understanding and coordination of a multitude of issues including ESD, heritage landscape matters, urban design, architecture, significant tree assessment and other environmental considerations.
Crace is the first new suburb with Carbon Neutral accreditation.
The challenge was to deliver a product to the client that was both viable and of a high quality that supported the goals of providing a percentage of affordable housing, meeting the best practices in ESD and allow for the rollout of staged development over time.
