The Karl Langer Award is presented by AILA to a Landscape Architecture student graduating from QUT. It is the highest honour given to a graduating student and is highly respected in Queensland.

Karl Langer was the first State President of Queensland AILA, and pioneered the field of subtropical design.

There were seven nominees in 2016 vie for the award, all having completed the degree with top marks. All nominees had to complete a portfolio, personal philosophy and an interview as part of their nomination.

Taneile is a passionate landscape architect, and part of her personal philosophy is centred around thinking big when addressing climate change and the challenge of living in the Anthropocene Era. She believes that landscape architects can contribute “revolutionary design solutions in response to society’s pressure on the environment”.

Taneile is a deserving recipient, and Tract is very proud of her achievement.
