Completed more than 25 years ago, the Manly Wharf Interchange remains an enduring example of integrated transport and public realm design.

Following a competitive design process, Tract was appointed Principal Consultant to lead the redevelopment of this important gateway to Manly, bringing together ferry, bus and pedestrian movements within a safer, more accessible and welcoming town centre environment.

Key elements included the creation of a new pedestrian plaza and Visitor Information Centre within the Manly Wharf forecourt, along with upgraded bus shelters and public amenities.

The project sought to improve the experience of residents, commuters and visitors by reducing traffic congestion, enhancing pedestrian amenity and improving the efficiency and functionality of local bus services.

A project of significant importance to the local community, the design was shaped through an extensive consultation process spanning more than two years. The resulting public space and transport interchange has continued to serve the community effectively for decades, demonstrating the value of thoughtful, people-focused design and the lasting impact of well-planned civic infrastructure.
