Tract Gardens In The Spotlight
Landscape Architecture Australia, the official magazine of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, is focussing on ‘gardens’ in their May edition.
Two gardens designed by Tract will feature in LAA; Canning Street an inner-urban garden and Medhurst a rural estate.
To coincide with the Gardens edition, we would like to share some of our other work in this field.
From inner-urban courtyards to expansive rural estates, the private garden is an expression of the collaboration between designer and client.
Gardens respond to the human requirements of privacy and shelter, stimuli and sanctuary and the relationship between dwelling and garden. Our work often integrates sculptural elements or uses the garden as artistic expression in its own right.
Rural estates are places that invite immersion in the landscape – our projects include wineries, restaurants, galleries & sculpture parks; private retreats, operational farms and country pleasure gardens.

Tract’s landscapes respond to the genus loci – topography, hydrology, vegetation, views, climate and the specific requirements of the owners and managers. While site conditions and client requirements are project specific, there are consistencies to methodology and design expression to achieve strong and legible outcomes which unify the site, provide a positive ecological contribution and an overarching narrative.
Design quality is measured by aesthetic appeal as it meets functional requirements.
