Tract has been engaged by the Golden Plains Shire to prepare a master plan for the Bannockburn Civic Heart precinct.
The precinct includes a recently constructed library and cultural centre which provide a focus for the local community.
The township is rapidly expanding, placing greater importance on this precinct as a hub for Bannockburn. The catalyst for the project is the potential relocation of the CFA/SES services from the site to an alternative location, which potentially frees up a significant portion of the precinct.
As part of the process, Tract developed scenarios that considered a staged transition of the emergency services to a new site.
The project is underpinned by a comprehensive community engagement program.
This includes interactive listening posts throughout the project, engagement with the local primary school students and innovative communication and branding techniques, including a dedicated project website
and 3D fly-through
, to raise awareness and generate excitement around the project. This approach had enabled the design of the precinct to be shaped by the needs and ideas of the local community.
The preliminary consultation findings identified a need to provide a variety of high quality public spaces within the precinct catering to a range of age groups, including children’s adventure and water play, civic gathering and performance areas and green passive open space.
Tract has developed a draft plan for the precinct which will be the focus for the next round of consultation.
