Canberra Beijing Garden Unveiled

Chinese President Xi Jingping and Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott have attended the Unveiling of the new Canberra Beijing Garden.

The Canberra Beijing Garden is adjacent to the Nara Peace Garden, on a small peninsular of parkland on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin. The site is part of the National Capital Parklands, and under the planning and operational jurisdiction of both the National Capital Authority and the ACT Planning Authority, and the Department of Territory and Municipal Services.

The prominent site has significant environmental and heritage constraints and the planning and procedural processes was very complex, to say the least. The entire project, involving a 5,000m2 site, and $5m cost was required to be planned, designed, approved, tendered and delivered within a very tight timeframe.
The ACT Government suggested that Beijing City employ Tract to serve as project manager and lead consultant for the whole project, due to the complex approvals nature, and the need for reliable and experienced leadership of the process.

Tract led the approvals and tender process, including procurement and coordination of all consultants, materials, contractors, visa process, public relations, planning, design, documentation, planning and design acceptance, construction management and superintendence.
