Festival of Landscape Architecture 2014: Festival Hub_____

Festival of Landscape Architecture 2014

Tract Consultants were fortunate to be involved in the inaugural Festival of Landscape Architecture in 2014 as the designers of the Festival HUB.

The Festival of Landscape Architecture held at the State Library of Queensland and known as Forecast was a departure from the traditional conference format and involved “a program of participatory experiences and conversations…designed to inspire and engage by re-imagining the way we meet and celebrate the profession, share our stories and learn through discourse and debate.”

Central to this experience was the Forecast HUB, a place for delegates to gather, eat, relax, celebrate and share conversations and observations about the Festival.

The design of the HUB was the result of a close collaboration between Tract’s Brisbane and Melbourne studios, the AILA creative directors, and sponsor Natureform who assisted with the fabrication, installation and project management. With a limited budget and tight program, the team were able to design and oversee the installation of the HUB which shaped the Library concourse for the three days and nights of the Festival.

The installation referenced the Brisbane River – as metaphor and physically.

It is a collection of origami like pieces that represent the flow of thought - an agent of change – and also endurance.
