Tract was engaged by the City of Greater Dandenong in coordination with the Department of Planning and Community Development, to prepare a high quality Streetscape Assessment for Ian Street, Noble Park.
Ian Street is a small retail street located in Noble Park, providing for local and convenience retail. Approximately 140m in length, it is separated from the core area of the Noble Park Activity Centre by the Pakenham and Cranbourne railway line.
The streetscape is unique in the context of Noble Park and the built form remains relatively untouched from when it was developed in the 1950’s. The rhythm and continuity of the built form are key characteristics of the street, as well as the presence of a number of multicultural influenced businesses.
The Streetscape Assessment will aid Council in establishing a preferred vision for Ian Street and will guide built form and public realm improvements. It will also provide further detailed information for Ian Street that will assist Council in the preparation of the Noble Park Activity Centre Urban Design Framework.
The Streetscape Assessment Project commenced in April 2011 and is due to be completed in September 2011. It is currently in its final phase of works. The Streetscape Assessment will promote sustainable, high quality design strategies that complement the social, economical and cultural values of the site.
