The Cowes Jetty Triangle
foreshore on Phillip Island, Victoria attracts residents and visitors with its relaxing seaside vibe, beach activities and coastal landscapes during holiday seasons and at other times where it provides a focal point for special events and community activities.
Tract Consultants were engaged by Ace Landscape Services to produce a design concept and design documentation for a part of the foreshore known as the Cowes Jetty Triangle. The design intent of the project was to transform the existing carpark area, adjoining lawns and road spaces into a family friendly foreshore meeting place, a jetty access point and multi-purpose leisure and special event destination that works for both the local community and visitors.
Design elements within the setting include a historical cenotaph memorial and garden, a piazza for key civic events and celebrations, a rotunda terrace and lawn areas providing a market space and shaded views of the beach, playful sculptural features, shaded lawns for general leisure and new jetty and beach arrival features to support beach users and cruise tour visitors.
The functional design has been unanimously approved by Bass Coast Shire at their December 2017 Council meeting and is strongly supported by local stakeholders including the disability access representatives, Phillip Island RSL and local businesses.
The project is currently subject to detailed design and will commence construction in February 2018 and complete by November 2018.
