Tract Consultants has worked with architects Nation Fender Katsalides in the re-development of the Bendigo Art Gallery. The historic building was hidden from view by a cream brick building of poor quality. The removal of the building and creation of a Garden and Sculpture Court has transformed the Arts Precinct on historic View Street, site of the First Constitution. An amphitheatre was formed about the central axis of Constitution Circle creating a symbolic setting.
The sculpture Court, which forms part of the entry experience to the Gallery, is a simple composition of formal planting, gravel paving and granite seats.
At the rear of the gallery, abutting Roslyn Park, a Sculpture Garden, water feature and axial path has been introduced to provide an engaging interface between the park and gallery.
Tract is currently working the Bendigo Art Gallery on improved parking and access facilities.
